Designed
for both men and women, Kardio Kickboxing offers a fun, total-body
workout that improves cardiovascular fitness, strengthens and tones,
reduces body fat, and reduces stress levels. First made popular
by Billy Blanks’ Tae-Bo video workout and infomercials, Kardio
Kickboxing is a high-intensity, calorie-burning workout that is
great for all levels of fitness. Our approach blends elements of
boxing, martial arts, and traditional aerobics into a 60-minute
exercise routine.
The
Classes
Our one-hour-long classes
generally feature a variety of punches, kicks, knee strikes, and
other self-defense moves interspersed with a bouncing “base” move
to high-energy music. The classes also incorporate traditional
exercises, such as jumping jacks, abdominal crunches, leg lifts,
and push-ups to create a total body workout. In addition, participants
will spend at least part of the time kicking and punching weighted
or padded targets.
The
Gear
Wear comfortable exercise shorts or sweat pants and a non-restricting
t-shirt or tank top. Women should wear a sports bra. No shoes are
allowed on the floor, so you will exercise in bare feet. Bring
a towel to class. Feel free to bring your own water bottle or sports
drink, but there is a water cooler in the school.
As you’ll
be hitting a bag or target, you’ll also need hand wraps and/or
gloves to protect
your hands and wrists. You may buy these
from our school, but you can also buy them at most sporting good
stores. The wraps are long strips of absorbent cloth that are
wrapped around your hands and wrists and secured with Velcro. Boxing/bag
gloves come in a variety of sizes and degrees of thickness. If
you will not have the gloves/wraps, then we will ask you to “air
punch” the target to avoid possible injury.

Schedule
and Cost
Kardio Kickingboxing classes are held Tuesday nights from 7:30 pm
- 8:30 pm, and Saturday mornings from 8:00 am - 9:00 am. The cost
is $95 for ten classes, or $85 for parents of our students. Classes
for current Jhoon Rhee students are free.

29, 2012 Annoucement:
We
regret to inform you that we will be ceasing our Kardio
Kickboxing classes effective early Summer.
Please
understand that this decision did not come easily because
we know that fitness has become a part of your life.
Unfortunately,
our Saturday instructor Katherine Arnwine will be leaving
us and Leilani Quinn, our Tuesday instructor, who is
a member of the National Guard, will be deployed to
Afghanistan in April. We wish them both the best!
We
have been dedicated to giving you high instructor quality.
This means that not only are the instructors Jhoon Rhee
Black Belts, but they have extensive backgrounds in
teaching kardio kickboxing. Finding an instructor can
be as easy as placing an ad in the paper, but we would
risk causing an injustice to you if we could not guarantee
the quality of your instruction.
Furthermore,
at Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do, we would like to expand the
primary purpose of opening our school, which is the
Tae Kwon Do program. After being open seven years, we
are one of the largest and most successful martial arts
schools in the country. We will be taking this opportunity
to expand our Tae Kwon Do class schedule.
WHAT
NOW?

Take your training to the next level! Join our regular
Tae Kwon Do classes at a discounted rate. We have
Teen/Adult classes 6 days a week. If you are interested,
please see us in the office!

We anticipate holding classes until mid June. Once
we have a final date, we will notify you. You may
continue to purchase classes in a 5-pack or 10-pack
at a discounted rate, or you may begin attending at
a "pay per class" basis depending on how
often you come.
