Weapons
Program
Traditionally,
the Korean Art of Tae Kwon Do does not typically implement the use
of Martial Arts weapons. However, Jhoon Rhee Arlington employs instructors
that have years of experience in various weapons. Therefore, students
have the opportunity to expand their Martial Arts experience beyond
the standard Jhoon Rhee curriculum.
We offer weapons training separate from our regular class schedule
by providing 5 to 8 week sessions of training with various weapons
on a "rolling" basis. These weapons include Bo Staff,
Kama, Nunchuks, Escrima, etc.
Competition
Program
Some students wish to compete at a higher level than our yearly
intramural tournaments. Competition may be in weapons, forms or
fighting divisions. Along with specific weapons training as noted
above, we offer specialized competition classes. These classes are
designed to prepare students to compete at "open" martial
arts tournaments.
Students
can expect to learn new competition forms, or adapt existing forms/weapons
forms for tournament competition. In addition, students who wish
to spar in tournaments will learn how to better prepare themselves
for "point sparring" competitions.
Whether
it be specific weapons training, or competition preparation training,
these sessions are held at various times throughout the year. Typically
these classes are one hour classes held weekly (on Friday or Saturdays)
for 5-8 week sessions. Please check the box to the right for information
on our next program.
